Now, this is a very good question. We originally thought about integrating it. In fact, they both share many of the same software components. The decision was made to separate these two products since they differ in System Requirements. While EarMagic Series run on most of Windows PCs today, this is not the case for VirtuosoEar. The VirtuosoEar is a real time application and needs to be treated differently under Windows. Put it in another way, you need additional hardware to use the VirtuosoEar. Unfortunately, this makes things a bit more complicated than what we hoped for.
We are not satisfied with the current state. We started working on a version for Mac OS X because it appeared that OS X had already solved the latency issue. Besides, Mac has a long history in Music Education. It makes sense for us to introduce a version for Mac Users.
We will also start talking to Music Instrument manufactures so that you will find stand-alone music instruments with the 12 Note Mapper built-in. There is no setup involved, just a touch of a button to utilize the function. At present, we don't know who will willingly incorporate this feature, but we will see.
For the time being, we will probably hear about a certain combination of products to function correctly. We might find some retailers/web sites who are willing to support a combination of products.
Undoubtedly, it will get easier as we discover more options.
The following products can be used with VirtuosoEar. We believe the information is accurate, but please use it as a guideline.
YAMAHA S80 and sister Synthesizers
